Hi, I’m jessica!
While pursuing a degree in Psychology, I became intrigued with the effects that movement and meditation had on healing the body, mind and spirit. I attended the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA in 2002 to study the anatomy and philosophy of yoga and receive my teacher certification. This became my independent study and has remained one of my life’s greatest purposes. While teaching in my first studio, I studied Thai massage and fell in love with the techniques and principles of Pilates. This awakened my own movement practice and gave me the tools to connect more deeply to my body and mind, finding an inner strength I had never felt before. The healing that took place in my body was immediate and life changing.
I knew I had to share this with others, so I spent four years studying classical Pilates. While working with clients of all ages in private sessions and group classes, I found myself tapping into movements I did intuitively in my own practice and peppering this into my teaching. The more I shared, the more I realized these movements really mattered, transformed and shifted the body and mind.
With my knowledge of human anatomy, focused study, genuine love of movement, and over two decades of teaching, I developed my own form of movement called The ONE Method. The ONE Method is scientific yet playful and focuses on loving our bodies and celebrating what they have done and can do. It is a low-impact exercise method that focuses less on rigidness and time spent doing it, but instead emphasizes intention, consistency and showing up for yourself. This movement is safe and sustainable, lasts a lifetime and enhances all of the roles you play.
Currently you can find me in my studio teaching classical and contemporary Pilates on the mat and apparatus, as well as The ONE METHOD. I am available for group, semi-private and virtual training on a case by case basis. Please inquire for more info.
